Sun and moon

A little something inspired by the book „Educated“ by Tara Westover:

You have always represented the sun and the moon to me.

Having you as my sun made me feel warm and safe.

I felt loved in your arms.

I felt at safe sitting with you at home and speaking prayers to our beloved god.

Having you as my sun meant that I could trust you.

But as the day passed, the sun eventually set.

And the moon emerged.

When I was little, I feared the night.

Knowing that your moon was nothing like your sun.

Having you as my moon destroyed me in ways I still cannot process.

Your moon shattered all the beauty I experienced with your sun.

It was full of suppressed anger and devastated dreams.

Your moon was only ever filled with hatred and violence.

Violence I have experienced both physically and mentally.

Violence I shall never forget.

Violence that has shaped me into the being I am today.

I cherished your sun, despite getting to know your moon.

I loved you regardless of all the pain you caused me.

And I never stopped trying to find a bit of sunshine on this cold moon of yours.
